CHRISTIAN EDUCATION PURPOSE
Our educational ministry invites people and communities of faith to respond to Gods good news with lives that are characterized by compassion, courage, justice, mercy, love, and sacrificial service.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Join us in God's Big Backyard this summer! You can now register your children (age 4 through incoming 6th graders) using the form below. Each evening we'll meet at 5:30 for dinner at Divine Savior. The two-hour program begins at 6:00 p.m. There is no charge for the meal or the program. Families are welcome.

Kids will learn about serving Jesus by serving family, friends, neighbors, and community through Bible stories, puppet shows, music, games, and service projects. Please invite friends and neighbors!

SUNDAY MORNING CHRISTIAN EDUCATION
All classes meet from 9:40 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
PRESCHOOL FIFTH GRADE
Divine Savior uses PowerXpress, a Rotational Learning Model.  The children really connect with the rotation format and look forward to Sunday School.
In a rotational learning setting, the same Bible story or theme is taught for several weeks.  Each week, learners rotate to a different station, such as music, science, art, games, creative cookery, video, computer and storytelling.  The story remains the same, but children encounter it in different ways in each station.  Repetition is an important part of PowerXpress.  The more different ways children explore a story or concept, the more it is reinforced in their memories.  The variety of experiences keeps interest high throughout the unit.  Teachers teach the same lesson, with age-level adjustments, for the length of the rotation.
This year the children will experience and learn about:
  • LIVING AS CARETAKERS
  • THE JOURNEY THE BETHLEHEM
  • JESUS BAPTISM
  • THE LORDS SUPPER
  • SHARING AND KINDNESS
MIDDLE SCHOOL SUNDAY SCHOOL
FAITH
IN MOTION
Our Middle School youth use the Faith in Motion series. Youth explore topics such as
  • Relationships and Faith
  • Peer Pressure
  • Grace
  • Living your faith through the tough stuff
The goal of this curriculum (as with any Christian Education curriculum) is TRANSFORMATION. Youth will become more fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ.
SENIOR HIGH SUNDAY SCHOOL
The senior high youth use LinC (Living in Christ) which is an ecumenical youth study that deals with cutting edge issues. LinC challenges youth to think about their faith and beliefs. With the immediacy of on-line technology and an exciting interactive approach, LinC examines the latest music, movies, news, and current events through a biblical lens.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
The Adult Sunday School class uses FaithLink which is an adult study for individuals and groups that want to apply their United Methodist beliefs to current faith issues and world events. This essential guide not only motivates Christians to consider their personal views on important issues, but encourages them to act on their beliefs.
Senior High Covenant Disciple
All youth grades 9 through 12 are invited to participate in a Senior High Covenant Disciple group. During our time together we learn and grow in our faith as disciples of Jesus Christ, and commit to follow the teachings of Jesus through acts of compassion, justice, worship and devotion.
Our lives are full of distractions that place obstacles in our way as we try to be faithful disciples of Jesus Christ. We need the support of others who are also on the journey to help us avoid the distractions and keep our focus on following Jesus.
Covenant meetings are generally held the first and third Sundays of the month at 12:00. Lunch is provided for a nominal charge. Join us as together we commit to practice acts of compassion, justice, worship and devotion so that we might more fully know Gods love, forgiveness, guidance, and strength.
Please call Carol Martin at 238-7753 to confirm the dates and times.
